This work thing is KILLING ME!!

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Man, I didn’t realize how good I had it when I was “on hiatus”, sleeping in, no worries about traffic, being on time (those early morning hours I love so much), scheduling appointments for any old time. It’s nice to have a regular income again, instead of my government dole, but I am sure struggling with going to bed at a “reasonable” hour, and getting up at 5:30-6:00 am. And it’s really been a struggle with the music blog launching–I have all of these ideas for posts, and then I get home and am wiped out from fighting traffic and the blistering heat, plus trying to get ready for the Alaska trip, and just life in general. There have been a ton of great shows that I have missed in the past 2 or 3 weeks because I either felt like shit after my crown lengthening nightmare, or was just exhausted from the new day gig, or am trying to save $$$ to spend in Seattle/Alaska/Vancouver. I’ve been out a little, but I’ve definitely struggling with balance–I see a big need for more physical activity, for a myriad of reasons. I’m trying to connect the dots in training, and it’s getting clearer, but being there at 7:15 in the morning is just soooo not natural for me–I am nocturnal by nature (it’s in my genes!), and feel like I am stranded in a the wasteland that is MetroCenter. The folks are good, though.

Who knows what the future might hold though, hopefully something will work out. I’m just praying about it, keeping an open mind, and opening myself up to possibilities and blessings.

Today’s iTunes purchases

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

Here are today’s iTunes purchases: last three episodes of the Black Donnellys (how I love this show–those Bahston accents just make me moist), Honky’s album Balls Out Inn (finally, after dropping hints for two months to everyone), Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) by Mika (stumbled on this, and you know why I love it), Amerimacka by Thievery Corporation, We Are Broken by (Franklin’s own!!) Paramore, Porcelain by The Pretenders (aaah, Chrissy, who showed me chicks could rock as hard as the guys), Rapper’s Delight by The Sugarhill Gang (skating rink, anyone remember?), I Wanna Be Your Lover by Prince (tired of looking for the damn CD–which is somewhere in this pile of rubble), Le Freak by Chic (skating rink again, and I do love Chic), She’s Gone by Daryl Hall and John Oates (blue-eyed soul, and I was on a 70s kick), Earache My Eye by Cheech and Chong (I remember listening to it on vinyl with my cousins Mark and Philip–much love to them), Clap For the Wolfman by The Guess Who (what can I say–I stayed up to watch the Midnight Special faithfully–since I was much too young to be actually out at midnight), Gator Country by Molly Hatchet (you know I’ve seen them, at Municipal–hey Kim!!), Keep on Smilin; by Wet Willie (on a Southern rock tip for a minute, and still doing the 70s thing), Spiders and Snakes by Jim Stafford (one of the first tunes I remember from getting my first am/fm headset radio at age 6–is it any surprise I love my iPod sooooo much!!!), Baudelaire by And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead (not from the 70s!! Trying to catch up on some stuff).

Now I just need to work on my playlists!
